Project Overview
Nestled in the vibrant district of Hamrun, the Labour Party Headquarters, a project completed by MED between 1992 and 1996, stands as a testament to political vision and strategic progression. This architectural feat marked a significant departure from the old Macina in Cottonera to a new, dynamic centre in Hamrun, symbolising the party's forward-looking ethos. More than a political haven, the headquarters evolved into a bustling nexus for cultural events, forums, and community engagement, echoing the nation's heartbeat.
Architectural Innovation: A Journey from Traditional to Contemporary
MED's journey with this project began in the 90s, employing traditional hand-drawing techniques, including colour perspective sketches and watercolour elevations, to envision the structure's design. As the project progressed into the new millennium, and with the evolution of technology, MED adeptly transitioned to 3D computer software, enhancing both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the headquarters.
Revitalising a Cinematic Heritage
The site, previously home to the iconic Radio City Cinema Hall/Radio City Theater, offered MED a distinctive canvas to meld historical charm with contemporary design. Our comprehensive involvement spanned every aspect of this project’s evolution – from interior design and project management to architectural innovation.
