At MED Design, we continually seek opportunities to stay at the forefront of industry developments. Recently, we had the privilege of attending the MARE Summit, a pivotal event that brought together key players in Malta's property sector. This gathering, graced by Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi, explored vital aspects of the industry, from construction and architecture to health and safety, and real estate.
Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi set the tone for the summit, emphasising the importance of collaboration and consultation within the sector to enhance its management and performance. He introduced the National Building Codes, a regulatory platform, aimed at elevating construction standards.
One common challenge discussed at the summit was the enforcement of regulations. Patrick Spiteri Staines from the Chamber of Commerce highlighted the need for building codes and their strict enforcement to create a level playing field. Moreover, he proposed fiscal incentives to encourage developers to surpass minimum requirements, much like EU subsidies that boosted the photovoltaic sector.
